City Youth News

Worcester City Youth will kick off 2019 with an impressive hat-trick as three of its teams enter the elite stage of the Junior Premier League.

The Under 14s and Under 15s both won through from their regional leagues, whilst City have also been invited to enter a team in the Under 16 competition in recognition of the fact that most of its players at this age group have been representing the club’s Under 18 sides during the first half of the season.

Placed in the north group of the JPL’s national competition, the Under 14s will travel to Grantham Town and UFCA in Leeds whilst welcoming the likes of Corby Town and AFC Rushden & Diamonds to Perdiswell.

Like the Under 16s, the Under 15s have local derbies to look forward to with Evesham United and Kidderminster Harriers. They have avoided trips to Kent’s Bromley FC Academy and South Dartmoor-based Blues South West – both of whom they take on at home - although the final game in their south group is at Torquay United.

The Under 16s also meet a variety of sides from across southern England from Newton Abbott and Bath to Staines and Slough.

“From our Under 10 boys and girls teams up to the Reserves, the club is thriving and we’re delighted to see lots of local youngsters playing good football at a high standard and enjoying themselves with the support of a committed group of coaches and superb facilities at Perdiswell,” said Mark Wilcox, Worcester City Youth’s Chairman.

“It’s very positive for the club to be represented by a trio of age groups in the JPL Elite Leagues where the teams are very much looking forward to testing themselves against some of the best junior teams in the country.”

He added: “With many players progressing and now actively participating in the first team, we have a fantastic footballing pathway that provides continued development opportunities for all our talented youngsters.”
