Worcester City Youth goes from strength to strength

Worcester City Youth Under 10s are already looking in great form for next season after success in the Walsall Phoenix tournament.

City won the event which was contested by 24 teams from across the Midlands, including a number of strong Junior Premier League sides such as Bustleholme and Alvechurch. They enjoyed a 100 per cent record from their seven matches - netting 15 goals and conceding just one in the process with Damian Duncan and Charlie Russell joint top scorers with three strikes apiece.

Five victories saw them top their group and earn a semi-final against Boldmere St Michaels with Leo Cerrone on the mark in a 1-0 victory.

Pierce Lancaster then scored the only goal in the final as City beat Kingswinford-based PS Olympic 1-0 to lift the tournament trophy.

The team, who only played together for the first time last season, are now looking forward to further tournaments in Shrewsbury and Leicester later this month ahead of Worcester City’s own junior football festival at the end of August.
