City host Coventry United in first home league game of season

The City boys are set to welcome Coventry United to the Victoria Ground on Saturday 18th August for our first home league game of the 18/19 season.

The Coventry outfit was founded 5 years ago in reaction to Coventry City moving from the Ricoh arena to Northamptons Sixfields Stadium. Since then, they have secured promotion an impressive three times. The Red and Greens ended last season 8th in the MFL Prem, slipping away after a strong start to the season which included a 3-0 victory over an injury hit Worcester side at the Butts Park Arena in front of their record crowd of 623. The return fixture later in the season was a flip scoreline however, as City came out 3-0 winners at the Victoria Ground, thanks to two goals by Dave Reynolds, and one by Alex Tomkinson.

So far this season, Coventry United have secured two 1-0 victories over South Normanton Athletic and Shepshed Dynamo, however they fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hand of Rugby in the FA Cup.

City will be looking to get some much needed points on the board after two difficult away trips so far in the MFL Prem have left City without a point from our opening two games, and knocked out of the FA Cup on Penalties to Walsall Wood earlier in the week.

The City fans created a great atmosphere on Tuesday night at the Victoria Ground, and we hope to see as many of you as possible Saturday to create that atmosphere again!
