Midfield man looks back at Saturday's victory and ahead to our Buildbase FA Vase clash...

NATHAN Hayward wore the captain’s armband on Saturday and helped City secure a deserved three points with a 2-0 victory over Haughmond.

“We started slowly and it took us a while to get into the swing of things,” he admitted. “After the break we started to get the ball down and play a bit more and our confidence just grew as the game went on.

“I thought that we dominated the second period and in the end it was a deserved three points.
“We created numerous opportunities but once the first goal went in, there was no looking back.

“There were plenty of positives to take out of the game, one of which was the performance of young Ethan Moran on his first-team debut.”

The focus now turns back to the Buildbase FA Vase as we prepare for Saturday’s home clash with Highgate United (kick-off 3.00pm).

“It’ll be a challenge,” he continued. “They are a tough, physical side; ability-wise we are better than them but we have to prove ourselves physically and ensure that we first of all win the battle.

“I’ve got faith in the lads to get a result and progress in this competition. Obviously with a Wembley Final at the end of it we want to do well and a good run can really lift the whole club and go hand-in-hand with our League performances.”
