CITY will be hoping to make a return to action at the weekend for the first of five scheduled matches between now and the end of the month as we play host to Lye Town (kick-off 3.00pm).
“It’s a busy schedule but January is always a good time to build some momentum and put a run of results together,” admitted joint manager, John Snape. “It’s fair to say that it has been a frustrating time with the weather meaning that it has been something of a stop-start period for us recently.
“We’re itching to get out there and play on Saturday. It’s another local derby and I am expecting it to be a hard-fought affair where we are going to have to roll our sleeves up and battle for everything, as we did at their place earlier in the season.”
City won 1-0 at Lye Town in September. Our opponents find themselves in 15th place in the table with just two wins from their 11 League games on the road this term.
They go into the game on the back of a 2-1 home victory over Quorn last weekend as City were left kicking our heels following the postponement of our game at Heanor Town.
It means that we have not played since the dramatic Boxing Day draw with Bromsgrove Sporting, so this will be our first action of 2018.
Let’s hope that we can start as we mean to go on with a win! We call upon as many of you as possible to come along and show your support...
