City back on the hunt for vital League points...

THERE’S a mouth-watering game in prospect at the Aspray Arena on Tuesday evening as we return to League action with a trip to face Sporting Khalsa (kick-off 7.45pm).
As we were on Buildbase FA Vase duty at the weekend, our hosts took the opportunity to leap-frog us into third place in the table with an excellent 3-2 win at leaders, Coleshill Town.
“It’ll be a tough game, but we are looking forward to it,” admitted joint-manager, Lee Hughes. “We’re ready to get back into the hunt for three points against a side who will go into the game full of confidence.
“We’ll get some fresh legs into the side and be well-prepared for the challenge that we will face.
“Looking back at Saturday’s game, I felt that we were well on top in the opening 20 minutes or so and should have been further ahead than we were.
“We slacked off straight after going two goals up and let them get back into it, which was disappointing, but we got a fourth goal and even though they pulled another back and pushed for an equaliser, we managed to get through, which was the main thing.
“There are aspects of our game that we have to work on, we know that; we made life more difficult for ourselves than we needed to, but on the plus side, we scored some good goals and created chances.
“We knew they would come here and work hard, so we had to battle it out.”
Hughes managed to get his name on the scoresheet with the opening goal.
“My first touch wasn’t the best,” he admitted. “But I knew where the wind was and was able to curl it into the top corner. It was nice to see it fly in.”
Dave Reynolds also got his name on the scoresheet to draw praise from his manager.
“Reyno reminds me of myself,” added Hughes. “He knows where the goal is and works so hard to get his rewards.
“He’s a good lad and I’m sure there will be plenty more goals to follow for him.”
