City battle through adversity to get a share of the spoils...

CITY overcame adversity to bring home a point from a 1-1 draw at fellow high-fliers, Sporting Khalsa, on Tuesday evening.
Nathan Hayward, Jamie Smith and Brad Birch were involved in a car crash as they travelled to the game and whilst the trio avoided serious injury, it was enough to rule out both Hayward and Smith, whilst Birch battled on with a sore neck.
“It wasn’t the ideal preparation as we had to change things around at the last minute,” said joint manager, John Snape. “Thankfully the lads involved in the accident weren’t seriously hurt but it meant that we had to change the team.
“Despite this we started the game well; our work-rate in the opening quarter-of-an-hour stifled out hosts and we managed to get in front with an early goal.
“I was disappointed that we couldn’t build on the goal, but they are a decent side and they managed to get themselves back into it.
“We didn’t pass the ball well enough in the second half but we rolled out sleeves up and battled out a point.
“I’d have liked to have seen us play more after the break but under the circumstances a point was a decent result.
“It was good to have Tyler [Weir] back in the team. His presence was a real boost for us and hopefully he’ll stay with us going forward. He’s a player of undoubted talent and ability.”
