Highgate United are well beaten at the Victoria Ground

CITY secured a commanding 3-0 victory over high-flying Highgate United.
The first action for City saw Nathan Hayward do well to win the ball and cross to the far post in search of Dave Reynolds, however, the ‘keeper got there first to claim.
At the other end, Curry’s strike was pushed away by Pryzbek as Stoddart completed the clearance as the ball ran loose.
A free-kick for City following a foul on Alex Tomkinson out wide saw Hayward get his effort on target only to be denied by a save from the visiting ‘keeper.
Former City man, Adaggio went close for the visitors just before the half-hour mark , whilst Stoddart saw his header creep just wide from a set-piece at the other end.
The best chance of the half fell to City as Mat Birley made room for a low strike which flew inches wide with the ‘keeper rooted to the spot.
The second period started with Adaggio once again going close for the visitors but it was first blood to City on the hour-mark when Jamie Smith’s cross found Birley in a good position and he made no mistake.
In the wake of the goal, Highgate went close to grabbing an equaliser when Curry’s effort hit the woodwork and Brown put the rebound wide.
It was a let-off for City as we went close following a neat move involving Reynolds, Tomkinson and Nick Turton who was unable to apply the finish.
The second goal dud eventually arrive and the same three players were involved as Reynolds set Tomkinson away and his ball found its way into the path of Turton who made no mistake this time.
We further increased our lead with just under ten minutes to go when Birley did well to pick out Tomkinson who was able to find the net to make it 3-0 and seal three points.
