Final home game of the season ends in commanding win...

CITY ran out deserved 4-0 winners against Rocester in our final home game of the season.
An early attack from City saw Nick Turton create an opportunity which brought a great save out of the visiting ‘keeper.
It was City who were asking all of the early questions and Dave Reynolds went close before a corner from Alex Tomkinson caused all sorts of problems for the visitors’ defence who survived appeals for a penalty for handball.
We managed to force a series of corners during the opening period but they came to nothing. Then an inviting low ball into the danger zone from Tomkinson was deflected goalwards through a crowd of players by Reynolds as the ‘keeper saved.
A long-range strike from Mark Danks was parried by the ‘keeper as the loose ball was scrambled clear as half-time approached.
The deadlock was finally broken on 57 minutes when Turton flicked the ball on to Reynolds who burst through before lifting the ball over the advancing ‘keeper.
It was well deserved and our advantage was later doubled when Reynolds and Tomkinson linked up for the latter to guide the ball home.
Our opponents’ heads started to drop as the game went on and with 20 minutes to go we added a third as Reynolds fired home his second of the evening despite the best efforts of the ‘keeper.
Some neat play from George Forsyth saw him carve out a chance which produced another smart stop from the ‘keeper. Forsyth then turned provider as he set up Nathan Hayward whose effort was saved and the rebound cleared ahead of James Baldwin.
With time running out, Baldwin managed to get his name on the scoresheet when he turned the ball home to make it 4-0 and complete a good night’s work.
