Top of the table clash!
Today we welcomed Stourbridge to Worcester University for a top of the table clash.
Q1 – The first quarter was a very cagey affair where neither side really got into their stride and chances were at a premium. 0-0
Q2 – The second quarter started with Worcester on the front foot and the home side began to dictate play with their trademark passing style. The opening goal came from good work on the right with Prince Henry putting a great ball into the box which was firmly headed into the goal by Joe Palmer off the goalkeepers left hand post. 1-0
Q3 – This quarter saw Worcester dominate and the home side went close to extending their lead but the Stourbridge keeper made a couple of smart saves to keep the home side at bay. Stourbridge were limited to playing on the break and were struggling to get any foothold in the game against a well organised Worcester team 1-0
Q4 – The game really came to life in the final quarter with an interesting clash of styles, Worcester with their patient passing game and Stourbridge with their more direct approach. The game could have easily gone either way and Stourbridge drew level with a well taken free kick from the edge of the box by Oliver Perks. After that both sides went close to grabbing a winner with strikers clean through on goal, but some great work from both keepers kept the scoreline level. With almost the last kick of the game Worcester had the opportunity to take all 3 points when they were awarded a penalty although the ensuing spot kick was dramatically saved which kept the honours even and local pride in tact.
AWARDS : Gold – Zach Bowater, Silver – Joe Palmer, Bronze – Harvey James
