Through to the next round!
Worcester City FC –v- South Dartmoor Community College
Today Worcester were at home for the next round of the Cup. It was an afternoon kick-off due to the distance Dartmoor had to travel, so the game was played on the Astroturf pitch in Pershore.
1st half – The game started at quite a pace with both teams playing some attractive football. Worcester got their noses in front following a through ball by Tom Griffin which Prince Henry latched onto and shot past the keeper, the ball going in off the post. A second goal was quickly added after a goalmouth scramble with the ball breaking lose to Tom Mills who struck a low firm shot into the corner from close range. The rest of the half was a fairly even affair and both sides had chances to score, although no further goals were added. 2-0
2nd half – Dartmoor came out in a far more determined fashion and soon pulled one back after a goal mouth scramble following a well taken free kick. Worcester had chances to extend their lead although the Dartmoor keeper was on good form. Dartmoor equalised from the penalty spot which set up the game for a grandstand finish. As the game went into the final 5 minutes, Worcester were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box which was despatched by Ethan Sherwood. The game was finished off with almost the final kick when Prince Henry scored from a rebound after his initial shot had been saved.
This was an excellent game of football with two sides determined to advance to the next round. Dartmoor battled well and ran Worcester close today, good luck to them for the rest of the season.
