Worcester City FC –v- Bustleholme FC – 8th September 2018
Today Worcester welcomed Bustleholme for the opening game of the season at Perdiswell. It was drizzling when the match kicked off although it brightened up as the game wore on.
Q1 - Worcester started the game in determined fashion and went close to opening the scoring on a couple of occasions early on. It was not a surprise when Worcester took the lead and the goal came from a quickly taken throw in which found Tristan Webby. Tristan outpaced the Bustleholme defender and his cross ball found Olly Berry who rolled his first time shot under the keeper. 1-0
Q2 - The game was a relatively even affair although Worcester extended their lead from an Ethan Sherwood corner. The ball was played into the box and after a scramble, Olly Berry was on hand to score his second of the day from close range. 2-0
Q3 - Bustleholme continued to battle as they fought hard to get back into the game. Their endeavours were awarded when they were awarded a penalty after their striker was brought down in the penalty area. The ensuing penalty was well saved by Ben Clay. 2-0
Q4 - The final quarter saw the home side again in the ascendancy and Worcester went close to extending their lead after Tom Griffin rounded the Bustleholme keeper only to see his shot expertly cleared off the line. Soon after Bustleholme reduced the deficit after a free kick was well saved by Ben Clay only to see the rebound fired into the goal from close range. It appeared that there would be a barnstorming finish to the game although the home sides nerves were settled when Tristan Webby put Cameron Montieth through and he finished smartly to the keepers right. Worcester went 4-1 up almost immediately when Cameron Montieth closed down a Bustleholme defender and the ball fell to Tristan Webby. Tristan finished low past the keeper into the bottom corner of the net. 4-1
This was a hard fought game by two good teams. We wish Bustleholme well for the remainder of the season.
