Today we made the trip to Birmingham for a friendly against Birmingham RTC on their new artificial pitch.
Q1 - Worcester started in determined fashion and enjoyed much of the early possession and took the lead after good interplay between Finn Syson and Tom Mills. Tom hit a great shot from distance which sailed over the keepers head into the top corner of the net. As the referee put his whistle to his mouth to bring an end to the first quarter, BRTC equalised. The goal came following a defensive mistake which saw Ben Clay stranded at the edge of his area, after a brave tackle to prevent their striker from having a clear opportunity, the ball was lofted over his head and into the net. 1 - 1
Q2 - BRTC enjoyed more of the possession in this quarter and should have taken the lead after they were awarded a penalty, although this was well saved by Ben Clay.
Worcester re-took the lead when Finn Syson made a strong run towards the opposition area and found Matty Patrick-Rivers who unselfishly squared the ball to Olly Berry who fired the ball home at the second attempt, his first shot was initially well saved by the keeper. 2 - 1
Q3 - Worcester dominated this quarter and added two further goals to their tally, the first when Tom Mills latched onto a headed clearance from Josh Schuck and he fired the ball into the corner of the net from the edge of the area and an almost identical finish for Toms hatrick following a through ball from Matty Patrick-Rivers. 4 - 1
Q4 - Worcester made a number of changes in the final quarter with many players playing out of position which allowed the home side to pull two goals back, the first an own goal following a corner and the second from the penalty spot. Worcester had a couple of chances to extend their lead but the game finished with no further goals being scored. 4- 3
