Worcester Girls 9-0 Sedgley
Worcester girls' win!
Worcester City girls' first win of the season came as they thrashed Sedgley Scorpions 9-0.
After some nice play from the hosts, winger Emily Kavanagh scored first with a nice finish from inside of the box after just 10 minutes. Then only a few minutes later, their lead was doubled after Grace Harrington's volley from a great cross. Worcester then made their first changes of the day with Hollie Congrave, Lottie McCormick, Megan Power and Leonie Walker coming off the bench for Daisy Martin, Beth Hill, Amy Johnson and Erin Smith. Just a matter of minutes later and they were three up with Shannon Tilley's first goal of the game. Lottie McCormick made it four just before half time with plenty of time on the ball to place it into the bottom corner.
In the second half the game remained in Worcester's hands as Beth Hill scored from a corner from the right. The next goal also came from a corner, confusion inside of the box led to an own goal from a Sedgley defender. The seventh goal was then scored by Leonie Walker with a thunderous strike after some patient play. Worcester thought they'd scored their eighth with Erin Smith scoring after a great pass from Leonie Walker, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Shannon Tilley got her second of the game with a nice finish from the right hand side. The final goal came from Megan Power who was played in by Abby Tong, making it 9-0.
An easy win for Worcester puts them into fifth, with two games in hand. Their next game is away against top of the league, Solihull Moors.
