City U18's dominant in pre season opener

City U18's play incisive football v Lye Town to make a good start to their pre season programme, reports Nigel Upson, Assistant Head of Youth Development

City: Sean Dayus GK, Milo Elmes, Ishmaeel Mahmood, Ryan Mole, George Patey, Josh Willis (Captain), Tom Allen, Cameron Leek, Declan Juliff, Myles Simpson, Louis Monoghan, Riley Keasey, Keanu Assanga, Joe Clarke, Ethan Muckley, Aaron Brett, Harvey Groves.
City U18's started their pre season friendly programme with a well deserved victory over fellow Midland Floodlit Premier Division South outfit Lye Town FC.
City's fielded a good mix of current players and debutants in this fast paced friendly.
City took a 5.0 lead at HT, playing some neat and decisive football and scoring some fine goals. Captain Josh Willis bagged a hat trick and Myles Simpson and Tyreece Ruddock one each. Lye's fast paced football was a threat but they struggled to deal with City's passing game and incisive attacking threat.
In the second half, Lye started well with two good goals to their credit but City continued their own scoring with Aaron Brett, Myles Simpson and Milo Elmes weighing in with well taken goals. Other chances weren't converted but City showed their quality throughout and it was a good opener for where City built on their pre season training work with a well disciplined footballing display.
