City U18's put on a high quality performance to score 11 against Coleshill in a game of two halves, reports Nigel Upson, Assistant Head of Youth Development
City: Sean Dayus GK (Captain), Ishmaeel Mahmood, Ryan Mole, George Patey, Tom Allen, Hamilton, Myles Simpson, Liam Lockett, Calllum Harper, Riley Keasy, Joe Clarke, Jacob Keane, Nathaniel Nisbett, Hassan Shah.
City delivered a high quality attacking display when they visited Coleshill Town on Frriday evening. The squad were fresh from their 8.2 victory against Lye Town and they knew that Coleshill would be a strong test.
City started well and their strong forward running and interplay was outstanding, delivering a penalty in the first 5 minutes which Myles Simpson won and converted, closely followed by a goal from Liam Lockett and added to as the half went on by Lockett again and Simpson, two from Callum Harper and one each from Joe Clarke, Hamilton and Tom Allen.
City's link up play and finishing was impressive and their back four showed resilience against the attacking threat of Coleshill whose fast paced forwards were looking to test Dayus in the City goal.
City's movement though was top quality and in the final third they were dominant.
9.0 at Half time.
In the second Half, Coleshill changed a number of players and tightened up their defensive unit, as you would have expected. City also made changes in this pre season exercise and and their midfield rhythm was interrupted as Coleshill took the game to City. They scored first, quickly followed by two further goals from Hassan Shah and Harper again for his well earned hat trick. City could have scored more but couldn't quite force the ball home even though again their football was slick and progressive. Credit to Coleshill for their attitude and their own game throughout. Credit to City for a dominant performance and in particular a top quality first half that delivered some superb team and individual goals.
