City ramp it up against Redditch
By Nigel Upson
City turn on the style against Redditch and finish their chances in style
City took on Redditch in the Reserve fixture with a strong squad and a determined approach.
City's fast paced football was immediately a problem for the opposition and City created several openings. On 12 minutes a great move found Joe Bates on the right and he smashed a volley Home for 1.0 and City were ahead. Redditch rallied and forced a free kick. The kick fired in via a deflection and at 1.1 City had to step it up again.
Minutes later Wesley Lewis headed home a City corner for 2.1 on 24 minutes and when Bates was again put through and he made no mistake for 2.1 on 36 minutes followed by his third and City's third on 41 minutes City were in the driving seat. City edged towards HT in front.
In the second half City played some lovely football and their fast paced interplay was too much for Redditch.
Josh Willis added a 5th on 48 minutes and further goals from Josh Hesson on 59 minutes, Hesson again on 63 minutes, 2 from Ethan Moran on 64 minutes and 69 minutes, Joe Clarke On 79 minutes and Christos Gabriel on 80 minutes saw City come in 11.1 winners at the close and deservedly so.
City were excellent in all departments as follows:
GK Sam Gilder
RB Callum Harper
CB Wesley Lewis
CB George Patey
LB Ryan Upson
MF Milo Elmes
MF Riley Keasey
MF Christos Gabriel
RW Josh Hesson
LW Josh Willis
CF Joe Bates
It was a competent and professional performance with some very good interplay and determined work against a Redditch side who never stopped working. A high quality display by the Reserves today.
