City make mistakes against Malvern
By NIGEL UPSON
Malvern Town Reserves punish City for missed chances.
City were on top at the start of this WJC tie and should have taken the lead twice before conceding when Dayus punched a ball into his own net from a corner whilst being challenged.
City dominated the possession but as in many games this season squandered chances and looked like they could concede on the counter.
Malvern were determined and very focused in their approach and City couldn't take the chances they created.
0v1 at HT.
City started the second half in determined fashion but again they couldn't quite make it count and Malvern sensed it could be their day. As City continued to miss opportunities, Malvern hit them on the break again and took a 0v2 lead with a fine finish.
City tried hard to get something from the game but Malvern were well organised and robust and City couldn't find the net despite several shots.
City dragged one back from Hassan Shah with 3 minutes to go but again, having got back into it, they allowed a long ball over the top almost immediately to go 1v3 down.
Malvern did all the right things to see the game out and City were out of the WJC with missed chances being their downfall again.
City wish Malvern all the very best in the competition.
