City wait to make it count against Wyrley
By NIGEL UPSON
City held in the first half but find a way through in the second half.
City were frustrated by a strong and organised Wyrley team who held City off in a first half battle. City had chances but despite several being created, they had to wait before Liam Lockett finally took one late in the first half for 0.1 and City we're ahead. Levi Andoh was denied after his header from a corner was saved somehow by the Home GK and Locket again was denied as the half came to a close.
0.1 at HT.
In the second half City made some changes and the game stepped up as they found their passes in behind and it was only finishing that denied them.
Christos Gabriel scored from the penalty spot to make it 0.2 and Matty Patrick-Rivers almost added a third with a clever lob and then was denied by the GK again 1v1 twice.
Gabriel netted a third late on after good work from Hassan Shah and Shah went close when at 0.3 but City couldn't quite add another despite their dominance. Sean Dayus in the City goal didn't have a shot to save as Wyrley defended deep and were dogged in their determination.
A well deserved win against a very determined and robust Wyrley squad.
