City penalty delivers the points in hard fought victory at Lye Town
City U18's came up against a strong and organised Lye Town squad who battled for every ball and gave the City defence something to think about throughout.
City took the lead mid way through when Jacob Keane hammered the ball against the post and Joe Clarke followed up to score.
It was deserved as City were in the ascendancy and had created several good openings.
0.1 at HT.
Lye came out fighting and took the game to City but City should have done better with 2 one on ones which the Lye GK saved.
Lye equalised when a mix up saw Dayus lobbed. 1.1 and City under pressure.
City then survived a good penalty shout before they themselves were awarded one when Shah was fouled and when Keasey's spot kick was well saved, Clarke again was there to fire home his second.
At 1.2 Lye worked hard for an equaliser but again City could have gone further ahead with two point blank headers saved.
City held on and took the points. It was a hard fought victory and certainly one of those games where the need to take chances at key moments was evident.
