City U18's rue chances and lose battles against Evesham
Evesham came to this game telling everyone they were expecting a battering. But the game turned out very differently.
City certainly weren't in any way underestimating their opponents and this was evident for 20 minutes as City dominated the play and deservedly went ahead after great work from Shah found Owusu and he fired home. At 1.0 City then turned the screw and should have gone ahead as Gabriel hit just wide twice and Shad had a great chance well saved.
City then caused their own issues, allowing the hard working Evesham forwards to press them and nick a back pass before equalising after Dayus saved the initial effort.
City then seemed to lose their way as Evesham continued to press them and forcing misplaced passes and poor possession.
At HT 1.1 was a surprise but in the second half, Evesham came out with purpose and forced City into all kinds of errors and out worked them in midfield for 30 minutes. This led to a deserved second as they intercepted another back pass and rounded Dayus to slot home. City needed to do something and made instant changes. They woke up, starting to get the midfield back and creating chances in behind. Unfortunately they couldn't create anything clear cut and Evesham's dogged defending and desire not to concede saw them come out deserved winners.
This was a hard fought game which showed that this League is a tough one this season once again and all the teams will compete and give everything.
