City U18's stopped by Stratford

City U18's let lead slip in defeat at Stratford.
City knew this was a must win game and they set up to attack and be strong defensively.
City were dominating the attacking third and had several half chances before they succumbed to a well taken breakaway goal to go 1.0 down on 37 minutes.
They responded well and stuck their game plan. Their hard work was rewarded when Joel Owusu fired the equaliser home on 43 minutes and City were back in it.
They took the game to Stratford and another great move on 45 minutes found Tom Allen in the box and he hit a lovely first time volley in for 1.2 and City were in the driving seat.
1.2 at HT.
Stratford came out fighting and City didn't deal with it. On 54 minutes a long ball was lobbed over Dayus in the City goal and it was 2.2 and game on. Unbelievably a scramble in the box on 56 minutes saw the ball fired home for 3.2 and City found themselves up against it.
The game then became an end to end battle as both teams knew it was a vital fixture. As City chased the game, on 62 minutes another through ball resulted in a well taken goal and at 2.4 City knew they had to do something. With 5 forwards on the goals didn't come despite a lot if endeavour. Dayus in the City goal had a fine game and didn't deserve to concede 4.
At the final whistle it was Stratford's day and they deserved it based on chances created and taken. City couldn't take theirs in the second half and reflected on a game that they could have won.
