In a entertaining game where both teams created a number of goalscoring opportunities, it was WCFC took their chances and the points in a 4–1 victory over Stoke RTC.
Against the run of play in the 2nd quarter Jack Fisher pounced on a long ball and his quality finish edged WCFC in front to make it 1-0! Following a foul on the edge of the box Dexter stepped forward to take the freekick from 25yrds out and rocketed his shot into the top corner leaving the goalie no chance 2-0!
Within minutes of the 3rd quarter Stoke scored to make it 2-1! This could of caused WCFC to panic, however they stood firm and remained calm & confident as a team and as the quarter went on they begin to gain take more control whilst remaining tight at the back. Into the 4th quarter Joe scored his first of the season after a neat first touch and shot from the edge of the box 3-1! The game was wrapped when Jarvo threw himself at a teasing cross from the right and his acrobatic volley flew past the keeper 4-1!
The managers were particularly pleased with this performance as the squad was down to 10 outfield players with Alex playing in pain in support of his teammates and the whole team can be really proud of the level of effort and quality shown. Stoke are one of the best teams we have played all season and we needed a really gritty display with moments of magic mixed in to win this game. Well done boys!
