David Holdsworth and Craig Dedicoat have moved from Cookley Sports Ladies to City, where they will form a new-look management team alongside Neil Rayment when the next West Midlands Regional Women’s Football League Premier Division campaign gets underway.
With 22 years' experience of coaching women's and youth football within professional clubs, UEFA B licence holder David has built an impressive CV. 'Yorkie' has worked with teams at Leeds United, Hibs, Limerick, Coventry City and Kidderminster Harriers, where he was a full-time academy coach before linking up with Craig at Cookley last season.
After starting out at the helm of an Under 12s team, Craig has enjoyed tremendous success with Cookley overseeing the Under 16s to the Central Warwickshire Girls Football League Premier Division double - a feat that he helped repeat with the club’s Midwest Counties League Ladies team in 2019.
"I am very excited to get started with a football club with a great history and building a team alongside Craig and Neil that can eventually push yet again to another level," said David.
Craig added: "The three of us are relishing the new challenge that lies ahead and looking forward to pooling our vast experience to create a competitive and committed squad that can ensure Worcester City Ladies becomes a halo club for women's football in the county and beyond."
Mark Wilcox, Worcester City Youth's Chairman, said that the Club's female section is flourishing. Once football resumes, the Club will continue to run its girls soccer centre for 5 to 11-year-olds at Worcester University every Sunday and will be looking to field additional teams across the U9s to U12s age groups playing in the Mercian Fortis Junior Football League.
"We want our Ladies to be challenging for league titles and inspiring the younger players coming through on our pathway," explained Mark. "With Yorkie and Craig joining Neil, we have a management team that boasts a wealth of experience and is both enthused and committed to player development as well as achieving success."
The new management team is planning a long-term project with the initial target of integration and stability during the first season.
Yorkie and Craig will be introducing a number of players, along with the current squad, to a pre-season open trial, which will consist of three sessions. Any player wishing to seek a new challenge and be part of the journey is welcome to attend.
