"Final weekend for City Youth teams"

There was disappointment and delight for Worcester City Youth teams as the competitive season drew to a close.

The Under 13s and Under 15s suffered narrow defeats in their cup finals. Both went down by a single goal to miss out on silverware but still can take enormous pride for very successful seasons.

In their JPL National final played at Gloucester City FC, the Under 13s were beaten by Oxfordshire RTC whilst the Under 15s lost out to Droitwich Spa in their WFA County Cup final.

Both Under 13 girls found their shooting boots as they each recorded emphatic 14-0 victories in the Mercian Football League.

Kacey Kirkpatrick hit five for the Lionesses as they overcame Wyre Forest Phoenix Flames with both Tori Milner and Olivia Burne on target twice. Melody Blake, Angel Collins, Maya Pawley, Maisie Jackson and Eloise Matthews were the other scorers.

Meanwhile Ruby Craythorne grabbed a hat-trick as City Girls defeated bottom-of-the-table Dudley Sports Juniors. Regular goalkeeper Megan Cerrone played out and netted twice with the rest of the goals shared between Phoebe Fellows, Megan Birmingham, Lily Jackman, Phoebe Tipper, Alice Simpson, Indie Lannie, Ellie Brookes and Laila Webb.

And City Girls finished their league campaign in fine style with a 2-1 away success at previously unbeaten league leaders, Stourbridge. The three points gained - achieved by a Megan Birmingham effort and an own goal - put the team in fourth place a top five finish is dependent on how other clubs do in their remaining fixtures. The Lionesses are guaranteed seventh spot.

Worcester City Youth was well represented in the annual Crowle Searchers end-of-season tournament with several winners amongst the teams in action.

On Saturday, the Under 11 Girls won all six matches without conceding a trophy to lift another trophy following their victory in the Mercian League Ron Handy Memorial Shield the previous weekend. The Under 11 Boys (pictured) only let in two goals on their way to victory in the plate competition.

Playing up an age group in the Under 10 competition, City's Under 9s with a couple of eight-year-olds in their ranks did superbly to reach their final before losing 0-1 to Hereford Pegasus.

A similar story on Sunday when the Under 11 Girls returned to compete in the Under 12 competition where their involvement ended with a penalty shoot-out in the semi-finals.
