Worcester City Football Club can today confirm that scan results on Darragh Bustin confirm that the new summer signing has torn his ACL and is set for a long spell on the sidelines.
An ACL injury is a tear or sprain of the anterior cruciate ligament — one of the strong bands of tissue that help connect the thigh bone to the shinbone. Typically, the recovery time for this type of injury is between 6 to 9 months.
Darragh picked up the injury in the pre-season fixture vs Cinderford Town and will now miss the majority of the season, requiring an operation.
Speaking on the results, manager Tim Harris said: "I am genuinely gutted for the lad as he was really looking forward to joining us.
"We had worked hard during the off-season to sign him, and with less than 90 minutes in two pre-season matches under his belt, he has torn his ACL and will require an operation. Hopefully, Darragh will not have to wait too long before going under the knife and we can help him on his road to recovery."
All at the club wish Darragh a speedy recovery.
