City made the short trip down the M5 this afternoon to take on Vanarama National League North rivals Gloucester City. Besides last seasons 0-1 victory, Whaddon Road hasn't seen much City success and this afternoon's tie was another frustrating encounter.
Luke Hopper gave the hosts the lead in the 18th minute after latching on to a long ball. Sam Oji went up for the header but the inch perfect delivery was brought down by Hopper who beat Ross and slid the ball home in the bobbly penalty area.
Gloucester then doubled their lead in the 36th minute through Ross Finnie. Another long ball beat the City back line and Finnie got in behind to strike first time past Ethan Ross in the City goal.
Joe Hanks finished off City late in the second half after the ball was cut back to him only 12 yards out. He rifled a shot home to put the tie to bed.
