Worcester City FC will have a supporters team beginning this season.

The Royals are the official Worcester City FC supporters team. The vision behind the team is very simple:

1. To raise money for Worcester City Football Club
2. To increase awareness and engagement with WCFC in the city

The team has come to fruition because a group of City fans who play Saturday football wanted to find a way to play whilst raising money for Worcester City at the same time.

The supporters team will begin its inaugural season in the the Cheltenham Association Football League Division Three. This league is populated by teams from across Worcester, Malvern and Gloucestershire. Although they will play on Saturdays, the team hopes to get along to as many mid-week fixtures as possible to support the Football Club.

Spin UK and Worcester Family Law Practice have kindly sponsored the team allowing it to buy its own kit.

The team is aiming to raise between £1,000-£1,500 for the Football Club this season from the players’ subscriptions. The team will also be involved in the Football Club’s fundraising activities throughout the season.

Club Chairman Steve Goode stated ‘The supporters team already has some very talented players and we look forward to seeing how they do this season and wish them all the best. We are hoping that they will contribute to the excellent work of the youth setup by creating a ‘Worcester City’ presence in Worcester’.

Football Club Director Luke Cox said ‘we’re always looking for ways to diversify our revenue streams and to fund raise, the supporters team offers a unique opportunity to do that whilst also increasing awareness and engagement. As a non-league club it can often be quite challenging to engage with younger football fans and this team presents the right set of circumstances to get people in the 18-25 age bracket talking about Worcester City. As we all know, word of mouth can be very effective.’

The Royals are still looking for players so if anyone is interested in joining the supporters team they are encouraged to email wcfcroyals@outlook.com.
