Luke Cox Steps Down As Director

Worcester City FC can confirm that Luke Cox has stood down from the boards of the Football Club, Worcester City Women and the Supporters’ Trust.

Luke has served as a director of the football club since December 2018, and as a supporters’ trust board member since May 2017.

On stepping down, Luke said ‘it has been a true privilege to help guide Worcester City forwards over the last few years. This has been an incredibly difficult decision to make, Worcester City means a great deal to me. However, at the age of 25, the time has come where I must focus on my career at such a pivotal stage in my professional development.’

‘I am so proud of what we all have achieved together as a club and as supporters in bringing Worcester City home and placing its future firmly in the hands of the fans where it should be. It has been a genuine honour to contribute to our city’s football club as a director. I have 100% confidence in Worcester City thriving as a fan-owned football club, and 100% confidence in the committed, capable and passionate individuals who are running our club, from the matchday volunteers to the boardroom’.

‘Despite my decision to stand down, I am a Worcester City fan after all, so I look forward to joining you all pitch side for a beer and chat soon. Up the City and keep the faith.’

Football Club Chair Steve Goode thanked Luke for his contributions by saying ‘as a board we are sad to see Luke step down, we know this wasn’t an easy decision for him to make, however we complete understand his reasons for doing so. Despite stepping down, I am pleased that Luke has made the offer to be available for any advice or support should we need it in the future. He has been great to work with and I would like place on record the football club’s sincere thanks to him for his commitment. We look forward to welcoming him to Claines Lane for a match soon.’

Club Director & Trust Chairman Dave Wood added ‘Luke had been contributing to the football club and supporters’ trust for a number of years now. He started out by helping with fan surveys at Aggborough back in 2015, then a few years later joined the boards of both the football club and supporters’ trust upon which he worked tirelessly towards achieving fan ownership, supporting the work to return to Worcester and then of course the recent launch of the football club’s new badge amongst other focuses and responsibilities. On behalf of the supporters’ trust I would like to thank Luke for all of his efforts in helping Worcester City onto the new path it is on as a fan-owned football club at home in its city.’

Worcester City FC would like to thank Luke for his work for the football club over the years and wish him all the best for the future.
