Worcester City host AFC Sudbury this Saturday in the Southern League Premier Central.
City are coming off the back of a 5-1 win in the Worcestershire Senior Cup, which has seen them in to the final for a second season running. City were ruthless going forward, with goals from Matt Richards, Felix Miles, and a hat-trick from Charlie Lutz.
City’s previous league game was two weeks ago, with last weekend's tie away at Bishop’s Stortford postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. In their last league outing, City beat in-form Stratford Town 1-0, thanks to a header from Dan Sweeney.
City currently sit 11th in the table, six points outside the playoffs, with a game in hand on most of the sides around them. The table is incredibly congested, and a good run of form could again see City pushing towards the playoff positions.
The visitors, AFC Sudbury, have struggled since the Christmas period and come into this game in terrible form. They have lost their last eight games, with their last win coming on the 20th of December against Redditch United.
The last time these teams met was in November, ending with a huge 6-0 away win for City.
Recent team news includes the extension of goalkeeper Sam Kane’s loan from Derby County for another month and the extension of Zac Guinan’s loan at Alvechurch.
This is City’s last home game before a run of three consecutive away games, so they will be looking to follow up on that huge win midweek and put the pressure on the teams above.
