Worcester City take on Banbury United this weekend in the Southern League Premier Central.
City are coming off a great performance away at Redditch, winning 4-1. This included a brace from Nathan Hayward and new signing Charlie Lutz getting another goal to his name. Dan Sweeney was also on the scoresheet, bringing his tally to 10 this season.
Last week, Banbury had their game postponed due to the weather conditions, so will be fresh after a two-week break. Banbury have struggled recently with no wins in their last four games. They have also found it difficult on the road this season and have failed to win an away game since November, when they beat Bishop’s Stortford.
City currently sit 7th, just two points outside the playoffs, with recent results seeing two wins, two losses and a draw. Banbury currently find themselves in 14th place after a recent slump in form over the winter period.
These two teams first met in the second game of the season, ending in a 1-1 draw. City will be looking to better that result this time out and will be hoping they can secure all three points as the playoff push continues.
A minute’s applause will be held in honour of Club President Mervyn Pinches, who sadly passed away at the age of 84.
