Worcester City are back in action this weekend as they travel to take on Kettering Town in what is their final away game of the season.
City are coming off the back of a great win at home against Redditch. After going a goal down just ten minutes in, City showed great fight to come back and secure a 3-1 victory in front of a 1100+ Bank Holiday Monday crowd.
Chris Cornes' side have been in good form late into the season, only losing one in the last five. Meanwhile, Kettering were on a six-game unbeaten run, including five wins, but that run ended last weekend after a 2-0 loss to Stratford Town. The Poppies have been good at home recently, including some impressive wins against Quorn, Real Bedford and a 6-0 victory over Sudbury.
The teams last met back in September, ending in a 1-1 draw with both goals being scored late in the second half. Spencer Hamilton put City ahead, but less than a minute later, now-City player Connor Stanley delivered a ball that Nile Ranger glanced home.
City are currently 9th in the league table, just four points outside the playoff places on 61 points. Kettering are 6th on 64 points, just one point outside the playoffs. A win for City could see them close the gap and put more pressure on the teams above, going into the final two games.
Some recent team news includes the departure of striker Dan Sweeney from the club due to a recent injury.
As we go down to the final three games, City will be hoping for a strong performance in their final away trip of this season.
