Worcester City are in action this weekend in the Southern League Premier Central as they take on Leiston in their longest away trip of the season, to coastal Suffolk.
City’s last match, on Tuesday evening, was a 0-0 draw away from home against the third-place team, Real Bedford. It was a tense, tough, tactical battle, with nothing being able to separate the two sides. City have been in good form away from home, having only lost once since the 6th of December. City are in good form overall, including five wins, two draws and one loss in their last eight games.
Leiston, meanwhile, have only won two of their last ten games and have failed to win any of their last five at home. Leiston currently sit 11th, five points behind City, who find themselves in 8th, only three points behind the playoff places.
A positive result here for City could see the gap on the teams below widen and really put some pressure on the other teams competing for the playoffs.
The two teams met back in November, ending in a 1-1 draw, with neither side being able to find a winner. City went one goal down after just three minutes, but managed to find an equaliser in the 55th minute through Liam Lockett.
With Leiston being closer to Amsterdam than the Faithful City, the Club wish all who are making the 400-mile round trip this weekend a safe journey, and thank you for your incredible support.
