Quorn FC - Preview & Match Information

Lee Jackson7 Aug - 13:45

Saturday 9th August - 3pm

Worcester City return to Sixways this weekend for their first home fixture of the 2025/26 Southern League Premier Central campaign, as we welcome newly promoted Quorn FC.

Chris Cornes’ side will be eager to build on a strong pre-season and make Sixways a fortress from the very start. With several new faces in the squad and momentum growing both on and off the pitch, City will be hoping to kick off their home campaign with three points in front of a vocal home crowd.

Quorn arrive off the back of a successful promotion push last season and will be looking to make their mark at Step 3. Expect a competitive contest – both teams will be eager to set the tone early in the campaign.

The two meetings between the sides last season in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division were tough encounters. Quorn eventually ran out winners at Claines Lane early in the season, after City were reduced to 10-men after just a few minutes. The reverse fixture was a bitterly cold game of two halves, with each side being required to play into the fierce wind for 45 minutes. The wind helped Quorn to a 3-1 lead at the break, before it assisted City in pulling the scores level, and they were unlucky not to take the victory, with the tie finishing 3-3.

With excitement building for the new season and the squad looking sharp, it promises to be an entertaining afternoon at Sixways.

Izak Reid and Elliott Hartley are both still working their way back to full fitness, so they will miss out. Shay Palmer has seen his minutes built up throughout pre-season, following a knee operation earlier in the summer, and is available for selection. New signing, Paul Downing, was removed from the starting line-up as a precaution late on last Friday, but is also expected to be available for selection.
