Simon Lancaster Looks Ahead To Youth Day

Lee Jackson16 Sep - 12:33

Saturday 20th September vs Real Bedford

This Saturday marks our annual Youth Day, as we come together to celebrate and showcase the fantastic work that takes place within our youth development section.

Club Owner, Simon Lancaster, shared his thoughts ahead of this weekend's celebration at our fixture vs Real Bedford:

"The youth section has been one of my four pillars of focus since taking over at the club. It’s the future of any football club, and we have worked hard to grow the section to 34 teams with over 400 boys and girls — all of whom have been invited along to Saturday’s game.

"These youngsters are our future players, supporters, volunteers and sponsors. They will be on the pitch at half-time, and I know you’ll give them a warm reception.

"Massive praise also goes to the 70+ coaches, all of whom are volunteers, giving up their time to create a safe and enjoyable environment for the kids to develop their skills. Your work and passion for the future of Worcester City are hugely appreciated.

"We must also recognise the parents and carers who give up their time to get the kids to training and matches. You are all unsung heroes, and occasions like Saturday are an opportunity to say a collective thank you.

"We’ll also be looking to mark the day with a strong performance on the pitch and three points against opponents who, like ourselves, were promoted into this level at the end of last season.

"Both sides are adapting to the demands of the Premier Central, and our own four-game unbeaten League run has shown real character — not least our comeback from two goals down at Stourbridge to draw 2-2 in our last outing.

"Similar determination and endeavour will be required again on Saturday, as well as your support and backing from the first whistle to the last.

"Thank you for your valued support, and we look forward to seeing you at the game."
