We are delighted to welcome local former professional footballer, Alan Green to Claines Lane on Saturday 11th February 2023, the day we host Wolverhampton Casuals.

Alan will be involved in a free-to-enter Q&A Pre-Match in the upper function room at Claines Lane, which will take place between 1:45pm and 2:45pm, to be hosted by our Club Historian, Julian Pugh.

Alan is well known in these parts as a former professional footballer with Coventry City between 1972 and 1979 before moving to the USA where he had spells with Washington Diplomats, Jacksonville Tea Men and New York Cosmos, culminating in a cap for the United States national team in 1984, versus then World Champions Italy. His national cap saw him compete against greats of the game, including Roberto Mancini, Marco Tardelli and Franco Baresi. Alan also shared the field with the great Pele. An end-of-season tour game between the Sky Blues and Santos was played out in front of 32,000 in Bangkok, with both Alan and Pele on the scoresheet in a 2-2 draw.

Alan is sure to have a number of great stories to tell about his career, the paths he crossed with players such as Pele and Franz Beckenbauer, so please join him prior to the match.
