Over £1000 Raised

We are delighted to report that as a consequence of our show of solidarity with the people of Ukraine, WCFC, The Supporters Trust, and our ever fantastic faithful following have managed to raise a brilliant £1,082.00 towards easing the plight of folk caught up in the terrible conflict in Ukraine.

As mentioned previously, having been contacted, the Club & Trust invited Ukrainian national, Maria Koval and her family and Ukrainian friends, who were now living locally, but who still had strong ties in the cities of Kharkiv, Mariupol, and Ahtirka to visit our remaining three home games of the season as guests of the Club and Trust.

Maria’s two young children, Teddy & Elizabeth were also invited to act as matchday mascots and both were inducted into the ‘WCFC Faithful’ by Georgie Dragon. In addition, our match day kit and programme cover page reflected the yellow & blue national colours of Ukraine, as a mark of our solidarity and awareness.

At the games, bucket collections were taken to help raise much-needed cash in order to buy essential foods and health products to ship back to desperate folk who were struggling to cope with limited supplies. Club Chairman, Steve Goode kicked off the collection with a £100 donation from the Club and the City supporters responded in kind to help push that sum past the £1,000 target.

Of the appeal, Maria said, "Thank you once again to the Club, Trust, and Supporters of Worcester City FC. Raising £1082.00 is a great achievement and has gone a long way towards providing folk back home with much-needed essentials and supplies. Your help cannot be underestimated. Ukrainian people really appreciated it… some of them had tears of gratitude filling their eyes."

WCFC Supporters Trust Director, Bosko Medakovic added, "We are delighted to have been able to provide Maria with the means to help support her efforts to provide some comfort for the people in Ukraine. The City Faithful have rallied, and have shown just what a fantastic bunch of people they are at a time when compassion is in such high demand… thank you all for getting behind the appeal!"

Our photo shows both Teddy and Elizabeth taking a moment to pose with Georgie Dragon, giving WCFC the ‘thumbs up.’
