City Manager is raring to go.

With just over a week before the start of the 2019/20 Season, City Manager Ashley Vincent reflects on the past week.

"Following on from our early pre season games, over the last seven days we have played three more games but have also fit in two more training sessions. It’s now at the point where we feel the boys are in good health and their fitness are at very high levels going into the latter part of pre season and the start of a long season ahead which we are now itching to get under way.

I would like to thank Stratford Town, Rushall Olympic and Cradley Town for the valuable game minutes and whilst results at this stage can bring about some false reality, we as a staff and a playing squad are happy to the extent we have played two step 3 sides that after being in many pre seasons know that should we have taken our chances created we would be sitting here with at least two comfortable victories, bar individual mistakes. In the Rushall game we haven’t looked one bit out of place against sides playing at 2 levels higher. Sentiments that were echoed by the opposition managers to the credit of our players which leaves us with great optimism moving forward.

At this point I would like to wish all associated with the clubs above the very best moving forward into the season and thank them very much for the useful fitness and game exercise opportunity they have given us.

That being said we are in the business end of pre season now where it’s time to start nailing down a settled side and squad to move forward with, but also polishing up on the key areas of our game, in particular finishing off the numerous chances we are creating in what we feel is a very aggressive and attractive way of playing the game to which will set us in good stead for the season ahead. Our ultimate aim is to make us successful with the support of our great fans along our way this season.

Our final two games are this Saturday against Bromsgrove Sporting then Redditch United next Tuesday, again both at step 3 and 4 respectively. Both will offer us a greater test than we have faced so far, but that can only be a good thing for my players to go and test themselves and use as a marker to see exactly where they are in terms of readiness for that first game on the 3rd August where we are going out to hit the ground running.

As previously mentioned points and medals aren’t handed out in July but come April next year this team has all the ingredients to be in the shake up and that’s why we will be leaving no stone unturned to be out to achieve.

Thank you for your continued support as we as a whole footballing staff do not underestimate the importance of YOU who make Worcester City FC what they are.

‘Keep The Faith’

Ash Vincent
