Ryan Molloy6 Feb 2024 - 10:53

A round-up from a number of our Youth teams from this weekend's action

Welcome to the Worcester City FC Youth & Academy Round-Up, featuring match reports, highlights and Players of the Match from our Youth teams. This week's action took place on 3rd & 4th February.

Worcester City U9's JPL 3 - 1 Bilbrook Juniors U9's
An excellent all-round team performance this week versus a tricky opponent, who the side drew with when we played them last, showing the improvement of the team. Goals for Jack Reece to make it 1-0, Murphy Ratcliffe to put us back in front at 2-1, and Oscar Peters, to seal the win.

Player of the Match went to Jack Reece for his adaptability in playing multiple positions, his work rate and a cracking opening goal. Well done Jack!

Worcester City U10's JPL 2 - 0 Wyrley Juniors U10's
Worcester City U10’s JPL enjoyed a 2-0 win over in-form Wyrley Juniors on Saturday. City scored early on, with a determined press from Leo resulting in a chance for Fraser, which he converted with a spectacular finish.

The team played some lovely passing football as the game progressed, and sealed the win with a few minutes remaining. Alfie’s throw-in found Felipe, whose pace and skill nicely set up Leo for a composed one-touch finish. City defended well throughout, and kept their shape to the end to see out the clean sheet. A great performance from the whole team.

Worcester City U11's Whites 2 - 1 Droitwich U11's Panthers

A very good game, probably the best of the season so far for he Under 11 Whites! Droitwich were very physical from the off and the boys were a little surprised, but they quickly adapted to the need of the game. Droitwich went ahead in the first half, and potentially could have extended the lead, when a freekick hit the underside of the bar and bounced down and out, but with no VAR the goal couldn't be confirmed!

The boys battled well and levelled the score, when a corner from Ollie found Noah in the box. Both teams continued to battle well and in the last five minutes they went ahead, when Jacob passed to Alexander whose shot was high beating the keeper in to the roof of the net! A massive well done to all the team, and a special mention to Fin, who pulled off some good saves and Alex who was excellent under pressure!

Players of the Match both Ollie & Oscar
Ollie played very well in central midfield and covered in defence, very good as normally he plays on the wing. Oscar played exceptionally on the wing and on another day we could have score more from those crosses alone, and made some thank less runs in attack to help the team.

Droitwich Spa Dynamos U13's 1 - 0 Worcester City U13's Colts
Worcester City FC U13's Colts visited the Droitwich Spa Dynamos U13's team at Ombersley Way, Droitwich on Saturday 3rd February 2024 for a friendly match. With an injury and illness stricken squad, the City U13 Colts team attempted to experiment with a new formation in this friendly match.

The players succumbed to a single goal defeat but gained valuable experience which will help the team going forward when the league returns later this month.

Player of the Match All the City players put in great performances in the game but it was Adi Dudzinska who was awarded player of the match. Well done, Adi!

Worcester City U13 Girls 2 - 3 Kingfisher Youth Girls
Worcester City started the game slowly in their League Cup Semi Final and were a goal down after a minute, but as the game went on the City girls got into the game and halfway through the first half scored a well-deserved equaliser. A great through ball from Gracie Larner to Lexi Burston saw her beat the defender to the ball and round the goalkeeper to tap into the empty net. Just before half time a great run and shot from Sofia Genever produced a great save from the Kingfisher goalkeeper, meaning the score stayed 1-1 at half time.

The girls knew the next goal was important but unfortunately Kingfisher got in with a great strike. As the second half went on the game became end-to-end. Worcester scored a break away goal through Lexi Burston after beating three defenders and slotting home to make it 2-2. With 15 minutes to go Kingfisher unfortunately got the winner, and best of luck to a very strong Kingfisher Youth side in the final.

We would also like say get well soon message to our captain Daisy Oakley who fell and broke her wrist in the game. Daisy will now be out of action for 6 weeks and will be missed by all of her teammates!

Player of the Match was awarded to the whole team for an amazing performance on the day!

Stoke City U16 Girls 0 - 9 Worcester City U14's Boys
The U14's won 9-0 away to Stoke City Girls. In-form striker Ollie Moore bagged 7 and was described by the referee as the best player they’d seen there all season! Up next is a crucial game against fierce local rivals Stourbridge

Player of the Match goes to Ollie Moore!

Ross on Wye U14 Girls 2 - 4 Worcester City U14 Girls
WCFC U14 Girls played away at Ross on Wye this Sunday in the semi final of the Hereford County Cup. Great performances from all the girls culminated in a 4-2 win against determined opposition.

Elle Brookes opened the scoring after three minutes following a driving run from Zara White, followed by a hat-trick from Eloise Matthews, with assists from Josie Tally and Ella Hayward. On to the final!

Player of the Match goes to Eloise for an incredible hat-trick! Well done, Eloise!

Worcester City U15 Girls 4 - 1 Dudley Sports
A Player of the Match performance for Ellie saw City win. Goals from Ruby (2), Ellie and Phoebe F gave City the three points. The girls played some fantastic football and were critical of their performance at half-time, showing their willing to improve as a team.

Player of the Match went to Ellie! Well done Ellie and the U15's!

Worcester City U15's MJPL 3 v 1 Kettering Town Academy
A fantastic display from the team to get the three points in the MJPL. An early goal from Charlie Smith gave City the lead, before Dylan Sivaharan scored with a header from a corner to make it 2-0. Kettering pulled a goal back, but City always looked in control before Harvey Sims added a third after a brilliant run and finish.

Player of the Match was awarded to two players for how well they both defended throughout the game - well done to Levi Adusei-Hillel and Archie Grove!

West Worcester U15's 0 - 3 Worcester City U15's Colts
The semi final took place at West Worcester Park, always a difficult place to go but the boys put in a fantastic display from the first minute right until the end. Displaying a great attitude and the boys can now look forward to a cup final in April after a superb cup run, beating the league champions and third place finishers from last season on the way to the final. Goals from Archie Grove, Harvey Sims and Reggie Perks made it a great weekend for both MJPL and Mercian Teams.

Player of the Match was awarded to Harvey Sims, who put in a brilliant and confident display, took his goal really well and worked hard on-and-off the ball all game. Brilliant work, Harvey!

Well done to all of the Worcester City FC Youth teams who were in action this weekend.
