In our statement in May 24, Youth Chairman Dan Sullivan stated – "Our Girls teams are so valued by the club as they represent the club in an amazing way, and we WILL ensure that they have bright futures in football with City."
Pathway statement, which can be found: https://www.worcestercityfc.org/news/wcfc-youth-pathway-2850874.html
We now have 5 Girls teams in our Youth section, U13’s, 2x U14’s, U15’s and an U16’s team.
To be clear, Worcester City FC is a different entity to WCWFC (Worcester City Women Football Club), they are owned and run entirely separately from our club.
Pathway Details:
It has taken time, many discussions, and a lot of planning to get to where we are now, and we are very proud to announce that WCFC (our City club) have as a board and youth committee now put the wheels in motion & foundations in place to grow our Girls section into the older age groups under our Club as Worcester City FC (WCFC).
Next season all our teams move up an age group, and our very talented U16 girls’ team will become an U18’s team where we have many options for leagues, including also having an U17’s in an U18’s league too, so all girls in that team will continue to play & represent City.
A Clear Path Forward:
Each team, including U13, U14, and U15, is part of this new pathway. We also plan to add younger girls' teams next season, setting a foundation for their transition to adult football. We’re dedicated to this journey, thanks to our fantastic coaches, players, and supportive families.
This is the start of a journey for all our girls developing towards adult football, in which we will also provide the opportunity to represent Our Club in.
In the past, girls didn’t have a clear post-U16 pathway, but with our renewed focus, we are changing that. Girls’ teams have participated as mascots and in events like Youth Day, and first-team players have come to support their matches, strengthening the One Club movement.
Upcoming Event:
On Saturday, November 16, at our First Team fixture vs Boldmere St Michaels at Claines Lane, we’re celebrating Youth Girls Day. All five teams will join for a halftime photo, and parents can meet Dan Sullivan and the committee to discuss plans for girls’ football at Worcester City.
Youth Chairman Dan Sullivan expresses his gratitude to our volunteer committee members, volunteer coaches, and supportive parents who bring dedication and energy to our Youth section.
Stay tuned as we grow and bring exciting developments to City’s Youth section.
