Worcester City Under 14's started their 2014/15 campaign in the Junior Premier league with a close fought loss on the first day of the season.
Worcester started the game with just 3 players remaining from the previous season with Evesham united having raided the talent from the previous seasons under 13's (now 14's) Claiming their facilities and set up are superior to anything Worcester city can offer.
With the manager recruiting all through the summer and working tirelessly to ensure we have a side to put out the line up that was put out did very well for 70 minutes of the 80 they played.
The game was dominated with some high tempo passing from worcester although without really testing the opposing keeper too much.
Worcester Broke through in the 3rd quarter with a well taken goal from the left wing by jacob saul who sent the ball flashing into the net after a really positive run.
The game continued in the same fashion and it was not until 2 sloppy errors in the final third of the pitch from a worcester player who wanted one too many touches un neccessarily on the ball in the opposing defensive area saw the home team take advantage with a strong challenge a long ball from back to front to the Middleton striker who hit a superb shot into the top corner of the goal.
1-1
two minutes later the same thing was to happen and Worcester got punished again by the same player and the same end result.
The opposition Manager claimed in his words a real smash and grab.
Middleton Cheney 2 - 1 Worcester city (u14's)
