Citys under 14s get back to winning ways

Worcester welcomed Middleton to Worcester university today for the return match of the cup competition The game was played on 3G due to pitches at battenhall not being available Worcester started very brightly with slick passing and movement and began to take control of the first quarter and it wasn't too long before the reward came with a very well taken goal from Tom Allen who picked up the ball on the edge of the area , jinked his way in to the danger zone and scored neatly in the bottom corner.the restart saw the a similar pattern with Worcester dominating the play and possession with debutant Jacob Keane looking comfortable in the number 4 role alongside Olly Twigg and backed up with the tenacity of Aiden lee and his fellow defenders which allowed the front four of Allen, Brett, power and Smith freedom to play Jamie power worked back tirelessly and won the ball in the wide midfield area and showed strength to shrug a couple of challenges off and found Allen who Put Aaron Brett through one on one with the keeper and Brett neatly lobbed the on rushing keeper to make it 2-0. End of the first period 2nd 20 saw Worcester make a couple of changes and the Energetic Middleton started to press hard and a lot higher and we're causing the midfield of Worcester to be outnumbers with some Worcester players becoming isolated and outnumbers and the defence began to drop deep, Middleton were just progressing into the game when Worcester broke at speed with Tom. Smith who drove into the box and cleverly clipped a shot over the keeper to make it three, smith was a threat every time he got the ball but seemed to lack desire to drive into the box at times. The score was to be added to again by Christos Gabriel who found himself advanced forward on the right edge of the area and with a little shimmy of the feet shot and found the net with a low hard drive 4-0 Worcester.vend of quarter 2 The third quarter Middleton really came out fighting with spirit and began to pressure Worcester and played most of this quarter in the Worcester half with Worcester showing excellent resilience backed up with some great sweeper keeper work by Tom Walker along with some safe hands the score remained 4-0 Worcester at the end of the 3rd quarter The fourth quarter followed a similar pattern with Middleton pressing and creating and Worcester resisting until finally Worcester succumbed to a shot from Aiden O Sullivan who was allowed time to get his shot off and score for Middleton 4-1,the game continued in the same fashion and with 3 mins left Middleton scored again through the same player, O'Sullivan after initially hitting the post. The game finished shortly after with Worcester recording a battling win, credit to all involved at Middleton for the hard working display
