Citys clinical finishing earns a fine comeback win

Citys under 14's played their final qualifying match in the Junior Premier League champions league competition and were aware Visitors Forest Green Rovers would not be an easy task ahead.

The game was played on the Worcester Univesity 3G pitch and the game was going to be one of high technical ability.

FGR started the brightest and caught City napping in the first 90 seconds with a well taken goal from a corner, City responded with some counterplay and levelled the game throiugh an excellent strike from skipper Dan Sutton who struck his shot from outside the area that flew into the top corner 1-1.

From the kick off possesion was lost in the midfield by city through taking an extra touch and then being pressed and the FGR player running through the heart of the midfield and the defence and scoring to give FGR the lead again.
FGR increased their lead in the second half of the game with another poorly defended corner on Citys behalf and the ball was stabbed home.
1-3 FGR
City made some changes in the personnel and this was to immediately pay off with a well worked combination down the right side that saw Tom Smith cross for the ball to fall to Jamie Power who controlled it with his back to goal layed it back to Tom Allen who smashed it into the roof opf the net, 2-3 FGr
This lifted Worcester gave them belief that they could get back into the game with 15 mins left.
The same move again down the right side resulted in another excellent cross from Smith who found Tom Williams who pivoted and struck the ball with power into the net 3-3.
Now it was game on for City and the energy drained from FGR and Citys grew and re organised with 2 up front and went for the win and this paid off with Olly Twigg and Williams spearheading the attack and pressuring the FGR defenders who were to their credit still trying to play football on the deck. The ball was won by Twigg who sent in williams with a neat through ball and Williams powered down the right side of the box to send a cross over for Power who side footed it home 4-3 City.
City were not finished and it was Power who stepped up to take a free kick 10 yards from the right side of the FGR area and with his left foot sent a top bin curling finish into the far opposite top corner to make it 5-3, the game finished shortly after, Credit goes to FGR for continually trying to paly football the right way, an exciting game to watch with two good footballing sides
