A slick City ensure a quarter final place in the league cup

Worcester welcomed Coventry today at battenhall, the pitch was in remarkably good condition considering the rainfall we had on Thursday and Friday overnight. The game started and Worcester were pressing from the off and started to make some good progress down the flanks with some great runs from Tom Smith and Olly Twigg along with Jacob Saul rotating as the 3 behind the striker. .some great chances were created but some excellent saves by the Cov keeper kept the scores level until 10 mins into the game where the Coventry striker cut inside from Worcesters right side and Worcester failed to get a challenge in and some good play from the Cov Striker who ran across the Worcester centre back who collided and the ref gave a penalty. Cov converted the pen despite the Worcester GK Tom Walker guessing the right way and just couldn't get to it, good effort! Worcester reacted and it was to be the impressive Tom Smith that drove in from the right after some great work from Tom Williams up front with some good hold up play got Smith 1v1 on the keeper and scored making it 1-1, by now it was all Worcester pressure and again Smith raced through down the right to cross a beautiful ball in for The on rushing Williams to slam home, super goal 2-1 The game continued in the same vain and Smith again ran through 1v 1 and scored a well deserved second 3-1 Worcester Half time, the second half began in the same vain with Cove being more threatening on the break but Worcester added 2 more goals from Aaron Brett and a beauty from 20 yards from Tom Allen, who was having a great game today in the middle of the park, Worcester nearly added a 7th through Olly Twigg who drove into the box and hit a strong shot onto the top of the beans on toast. Cov reacted and a super individual goal from Costa saw them score their second and it was Dan Sutton who initially won the ball on the halfway line and laid it off and continued his run into the area for a tap in 7-2 .Cov finished their game on a high and scored a goal near the death to make iteh final score Worcester 7-3 Cov We wish the Coventry lads well and Steve Lawson who was absent today after surgery a speedy recovery.
