Worcester down Evesham

Today we made the trip to our local rivals, Evesham United, for what is always a keenly contested derby.

Q1 – The first quarter was a relatively even affair, with both sides struggling to get to terms with the firm ground and bouncing ball. Worcester thought that they had taken the lead with a well taken headed goal only to find that the effort was ruled out for offside. 0-0

Q2 – Worcester soon got into their stride and following some great wing play by Joe Palmer, Prince Henry was on hand to prod the ball past the Evesham keeper from just inside the six yard box. Within a minute of the re-start, Worcester doubled their lead when an Ethan Sherwood corner was headed in by Tom Griffin from close range. 0-2

Q3 – Evesham enjoyed their best spell in the third quarter and had a few long range efforts although did not trouble the away side keeper. The game came into life though when Evesham were awarded a penalty late on, which was despatched into the corner of the net with almost the last kick of the quarter. 1-2

Q4 – The homeside may have expected a grandstand finish to the game, although Worcester started the final quarter on the front foot and any nerves were soon calmed when Worcester extended their lead. Pierre Parkes made a direct run down the wing and following some intricate play with Finn Syson, the ball found Tom Mills on the edge of the box who fired a shot into the roof of the net. A fourth goal quickly followed, this time with Tristan Webby the provider. Tristan was a constant menace on the left wing and after one of his mazy runs, he found Kane Harold on the corner of the six yard box and Kane was on hand to place a precise shot into the opposite corner of the net. Worcester’s victory was complete when Tom Mills finished from close range following a Tristan Webby corner. 1-5

Overall this was another fine footballing performance from a Worcester team that is improving every week.

AWARDS : Gold – Kane Harold, Silver – Tristan Webby, Bronze – Joe Palmer
