Cup Run Continues.....

Bromsgrove made the short trip for the next round of the Worcestershire County Cup. The game was played on the artificial pitch at Worcester University and the conditions were cold but dry, perfect for football.

1st half - The first half was dominated from the start by Worcester and despite a lot of early possession and chances Worcester failed to capitalise on their dominance. As the half wore on though, Worcester began to make their dominance count and Prince Henry scored the opening goal from the edge of the box after a good through ball from Kane Bullock. A second soon followed when Tom Mills (who had just come on) with his first touch played a beautifully floated pass, through to Joe Palmer who made no mistake past the onrushing keeper. Jacob Titheridge then went on a mazy run, dribbled alone the by-line and put an excellent cross in to Prince Henry who was on hand to tap the ball in from close range. Worcester went 4-0 up with Charlie Barrett the provider, his cross from the wing was met at the near post by Joe Palmer who placed his shot into the roof of the net. Bromsgrove did pull a goal back although this proved to be no more than a consolation. (4-1)

2nd half - The second half was again dominated by Worcester who really pushed home their advantage and the eventual score line of (10-1) was no more than they deserved. Worcester went 5-1 ahead after a long pass from Jacob Titheridge was met by Joe Palmer who beat the onrushing keeper to the ball and he calmly slotted into an empty net. The sixth goal was scored by Tom Mills after a pinpoint cross was played to him by Charlie Barrett, Tom calmly controlled the ball and passed his shot into the far corner. Charlie Barrett was again the provider for Worcester’s seventh with a through ball to Joe Palmer who once again beat the keeper with a strong shot. Worcester’s eighth came from Kane Bullock whose through ball was met by Tom Mills who slotted the ball past the keeper from just inside the box. Jacob Titheridge was the provider for Worcester’s ninth when his pass was met by Prince Henry who went round the keeper and finished into an empty net. The final goal of the game came after intricate play on the edge of the box between Tom Mills and Tristan Webby and Prince Henry was on hand to score again from close range.

This was a strong all round performance from the team and it was therefore difficult to pick out individual players for awards.

AWARDS : Gold – Harvey James, Silver – Joe Palmer, Bronze – Prince Henry
