Worcester Ease Past Gloucester

Today we made the journey to play Gloucester City on a wet and cold morning. Winter has arrived!

Q1 - The game was initially a little scrappy, but as Worcester began to adapt to the conditions, they started to impose themselves on the game. Worcester took the lead with one of the best goals that we have scored this season. The move started with George Bourne who bowled the ball out to Zach Humphrys. After good interplay in midfield Tristan Webby beat his man on the wing and found Joe Palmer on the edge of the box. Joe calmly laid the ball back to Joshua Shuck who placed a perfect first time shot into the corner of the net. This settled the away side and Worcester were soon two goals to the good after Joe Palmer outpaced his defender, rounded the keeper and placed the ball into the empty net. Worcester finished the quarter 3 goals ahead when a pin point cross from Tristan Webby found Joe Palmer who smashed a low drive into the corner of the net. 3-0

Q2 - The home side began this quarter in determined fashion and put Worcester on the backfoot for the first 10 minutes and Worcester’s 4th goal was a little against the run of play. The move started with a smart one-two between Harvey James and Tom Mills. Harvey then placed a lovely pass through to Joe Palmer to put him through on goal. Joe placed a low shot under the onrushing keeper for his hatrick. Worcester were now once again in the ascendency and Joe got his 4th and Worcester’s 5th after Olly Berry found him with a pinpoint cross and Joe fired a first time shot into the roof of the net. Right on the half time whistle Joe scored his 5th goal of the game when Harvey James lifted a pass through to him and Joe rolled his shot past the onrushing keeper and into the corner of the net. 6-0

Q3 - Gloucester continued to battle and didn’t let their heads drop and were unlucky not to reduce the deficit when their striker hit a fine shot which was heading for the top corner of the net but George Bourne in the Worcester goal was equal to it with a superb one handed save to his left. Olly Berry scored Worcester’s 7th when Joe Palmer headed the ball down to him, Olly placed a pinpoint shot into the far corner of the net. Worcester went 8 up when Tom Mills headed in an Ethan Sherwood corner. 8-0

Q4
- In the final quarter of the game, Worcester were now in rampant mood with constant waves of attacks on the Gloucester goal, and scored 3 further times. Their 9th was a great team goal with Finn Syson being the provider which Olly Berry finished low and hard past the keeper. The 10th scored by Tom Mills after he intercepted a pass, drove into the box and placed a neat shot into the corner of the net. The 11th and final goal was a close finish by Olly Berry after tricky wing play from Tristan Webby. 11-0

This was a really impressive performance from Worcester in poor conditions.
