Today we welcomed WBA Gloucester and it was back to the league after last weeks disappointment in the cup. It was a cold morning with a light drizzle in the air. The pitch drains well and as such the ground was firm.
Q1 - Gloucester started on the front foot and had a couple of early efforts on the Worcester goal although George Bourne was equal to all that WBA threw at him. Worcester gradually got a foothold in the game and took the lead late in the first quarter. The goal came from a free kick which was floated into the back post by Tristan Webby. Harry Williams initially headed the ball up into the air and as the ball came down, it found its way into the corner of the net. Worcester went two ahead with almost the last kick of the quarter when Olly Berry and Joe Palmer exchanged passes on the edge of the area putting Olly clean through on goal and Olly placed his shot past the onrushing keeper. 2-0
Q2 – The second quarter started much like the first finished with Worcester on the front foot. Worcester scored a third with a fine solo effort from Olly Berry who placed his shot into the far corner of the net and Olly completed his hatrick soon thereafter with another well taken goal. 4-0
Q3 - The third quarter of the game was more evenly contested although neither keepers were overly troubled and no further goals were scored. 4-0
Q4 - As the game wore on, Worcester were once again on the front foot and Tom Mills scored Worcesters fifth with a well executed volley which flew into the corner of the net. Worcesters sixth came after a fine move with Olly Berry the provider. Olly floated a pin point pass to Tristan Webby who took the ball in his stride and slid the ball past the keeper. WBA did pull a goal back towards the end of the game after a goal mouth scramble. 6-1
This was a well contested game between two good sides.
