Today Worcester travelled to North London to play iPro Football on a cold winters morning. Both sides had started the season well, so we were expecting a good game.
1st Half – Worcester started strongly and enjoyed much of the possession and looked a constant threat on the break. Somewhat against the run of play, iPro took the lead following strong wing play and the ball was despatched at the back post. This spurred Worcester into action and they almost immediately equalised when Joe Palmer robbed an iPro midfielder of the ball, went on a solo run and calmly placed the ball past the keeper after going round two defenders. Worcester were on the front foot and went looking for further goals only to be caught on the break by another breakaway goal, which was similar to the first. Despite long periods of possession Worcester were unable to draw level. 2-1
2nd Half – A change in formation from Worcester did not really pay dividends and iPro were far more comfortable in the second half. The game became a little scrappy and chances were at a premium. With approximately 5 mins left to go, the iPro forward scored a fine solo goal to put the game beyond Worcester’s reach. Worcester did pull a goal back, on the stroke of full time, after an Olly Berry cross was inadvertently sliced into his own net by an iPro defender. 3-2
In truth this was not one of Worcester’s better performances.
