Match report by Daren Mills

Today we made the journey to Tally Ho to play West Hagley FC.

First Half - Worcester made an uncharacteristic slow start to the game and found it hard to get into any rhythm. The home side took the lead after a poor backpass was intercepted by the West Hagley forward and although Ben Clay in the Worcester goal did his best to stop him, the ball was bundled home from close range. Straight from the restart, Worcester found an equaliser when Matty Patrick-Rivers latched onto a defensive error although his initial shot was well saved. The ball rebounded off the keeper and Tristan Webby beat his marker and placed a low shot into the empty net. The rest of the half was a fairly even affair with neither side able to impose themselves. 1-1

Second Half - Worcester started in determined fashion and began to enjoy significantly more of the possession. Slightly against the run of play the home side had an opportunity to re-take the lead although George Bourne made a fine save which gave Worcester the platform to go on and win the game. Worcester looked resilient at the back and started to control the midfield which enabled the team to create a number of chances. Tristan Webby went close to giving Worcester the lead from a free kick although the Hagley keeper made an acrobatic save and tipped his effort over the bar. Worcester did take the lead after good work from Matty Patrick-Rivers who found Olly Berry on the edge of the box. Olly drove forwards, checked back inside and placed a fine shot under the keeper. Worcester scored a third soon after from an Olly Berry corner which was powerfully headed home by Tom Griffin. Worcester were now firmly in control of the game and it was no surprise when Matty Patrick-Rivers extended Worcester’s lead after a good pass from Finn Syson found him in the box and Matty finished smartly into the corner. Worcester scored a fifth shortly before the end of the game following a strong run by Tristan Webby on the wing. Tristan fired a low cross into the box which ricocheted around and was finally prodded home from close range by Finn Syson. 1-5

Today Worcester were not at their best, but following a resolute performance in the second half the game ended up being a quite comfortable win.

Awards - Gold – Cam Montieth, Silver – Tristan Webby, Bronze – Finn Syson
